This week we did the following at cavnessHR.
We enrolled in a Digital Transformation course from https://www.hellosign.com/ it is a once a month course for 12 months. The course covers all things digital and how to make your organization paperless. Since cavnessHR will be paperless, for both us and our customers. We wanted to take this course to make sure we were up to date on this subject.
We started the Launch Lab Online Accelerator. This is a 20-week course for Veteran Entrepreneurs that has you doing various classwork and projects. I had a great first call with my group member Maggie Guidry. https://www.linkedin.com/in/maggieguidry/ Her business is working with candidates (PhD or MD) who want to transition to new careers outside of their current degree customary role (academia or medicine) and into the life science business industry. Maggie is also going to work with HR talent acquisition professionals who are in need of top Ph.D. and MD talent for positions that may or may not require a D-degree.
We had a great conversation with the University of Puget Sound out of Tacoma about their RISE program. https://www.pugetsound.edu/academics/experiential/for-students/featured-programs/rise/ It is a program that partners University of Puget Sound Sophomores with local businesses for summer internships. We plan on submitting for this program this summer to bring on a great intern.
We attended Technical Tuesday at the University of Washington-Tacoma VIBE entrepreneurial program. http://www.tacoma.uw.edu/veterans-incubator-better-entrepreneurship/welcome-vibe
We attended a great presentation by Kristina Maritczak https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristina-maritczak-238099a/ on getting ready for the University of Washington-Tacoma pitch competition.
We took a short online FB ads class offered by FB. It pretty much-covered items we already knew about. But it was a nice refresher. We did a deep dive into all things social media this week. Just reviewing our social media plan and brushing up on all the social media platforms we are using.
We signed up for a program called Later. www.later.com. This program lets you schedule out your Instagram posts. It seems like it will be very useful to us. We are also attending a webinar they are putting on about how to improve your Instagram.
We canceled our Twitter Promote Mode. We wanted to do a two-month experiment with this and see the results.
People reached - 43263
Followers gained - 47
Profile visits - 4807
Tweets promoted - 199
I know there are some social media experts who really don't like Twitter Promote Mode. But I think it will be a great part of the overall cavnessHR social media strategy.
As part of our membership with MBApierce https://www.mbapierce.com/, we volunteered at their booth at the Tacoma Home and Garden show. The event was nowhere as busy as I thought it would be when I signed up. Probably because I took the 4pm to 7pm Thursday shift. But this gave me the opportunity to have a great conversation with Duke York of York Enterprises. www.yorkenterprises.com We had a great talk about what HR help construction companies could use.
Business Impact Northwest has agreed to allow us to continue helping them with their HR for 2018. So that is great news for us. We look forward to working with them in 2018. BINW is also serving as our Beta for cavnessHR. That is going to be a great help to us. On our most recent project for them, we did an info paper on unlimited PTO and the pros and cons of implementing unlimited PTO.
We continue to receive great feedback on the cavnessHR podcast. We have just finished our 4th month of pushing out the cavnessHR podcast. At the start, we were hustling for guests and making lots of mistakes. Like the time I clicked on a pen during an interview. Of course, the pen click noises were all through the episode and I had to edit every single one out. We now have 3 months of episodes in our backlog. So from now on, we will only be scheduling 4 talks per month. That way we maintain our 3-month backlog. This will also decrease the time we have to spend on the podcast. We believe the time spent on the cavnesHR podcast will pay off in the long run. But it is now time to use some of that time on other items.
The best part of the week was we conducted our first cavnessHR software development meeting. It was great to hear the cavnessHR CTO talk to our software developers and start putting together our plan for the development of cavnessHR.
