Big news for cavnessHR this past week is that Lisa Murtha https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisa-murtha-2b4b84108/ has joined cavnessHR to help us with our Business Development. Lisa is going to be a great help to the growth of cavnessHR.
We sent our draft equity plan, draft salary plan and draft fundraising plan to our Board of Advisors for their input and feedback. We are looking forward to the feedback they provide. I am sure these documents will change a lot during the course of building cavnessHR.
cavnessHR has been accepted to pitch at the 1millioncups Seattle pitch event on October 31. https://www.1millioncups.com/seattle For those of you unfamiliar with what they do, an explanation is below
Based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and engage with their communities over a million cups of coffee, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups in 2012—a free program designed to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs around the country. Through the power of volunteers, 1 Million Cups has grown to more than 180 communities.
As a program of the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups works with entrepreneurs, empowering them with the tools and resources to break down barriers that stand in the way of starting and growing their businesses. Mr. Kauffman believed it was a fundamental right for anyone who had a big idea to be able to bring it to life—and we're here to fulfill that mission.

We went through our Close.io https://close.io/ sales information that was provided to us by them one more time. As we have said before Close.io has provided us with some great sales resources. To follow up on that. We have finally started the cavnessHR sales process. We have sent out our initial
10 cold emails out to 10 local area construction companies. We will use these first 10 cold emails refine that part of our sales process.
As a part of starting our sales process, we did something that honestly we should have done a long time ago. We did a search for all CEOs in the Seattle/Tacoma area and came up with around 7900. Then we went through those to see which ones had companies with 49 or fewer employees and sent them LinkedIn requests. So far a good number have accepted our request. Once they have been accepting our requests we have been asking them if we can add them to our email list. That way we can send them our weekly HR for small business video/blog. Which we plan on starting on soon.
We have also continued to meet with people about cavnessHR.
September 24, 2018, marked the one year anniversary of the cavnessHR podcast. We have done 63 episodes of the cavnessHR podcast with 10,966 downloads. Which comes out to 174 downloads per episode.
Below is our tech update for cavnessHR
implemented dev/staging/production variations for Dropbox integration
- built out employee class/data structure in the api
- setup per-column encryption for private employee data
- met with Kevin Goldsmith, one of our Board of Advisors and validated tech stack/deployment plan
