This was a busy week filled with lots of events and other items.
We had our monthly meeting with one of our Board of Advisors, Dr. D. Anthony Myles. He provided us with some great feedback on several items. As I have said before, we don't see how other startups don't have a Board of Advisors. The value they provide is incredible.
As we said on our social media, we finished 10th in voting in the Business Impact NW pitch competition. So we did not make it to the pitch round. So that was disappointing. But we did receive some good news from the competition that we will announce on the day of the BINW Pitch competition. Which is on October 4.
We had a meeting with Kerrie from Business Impact NW. They are providing a course for business owners that will cover the items they need to know to be successful. Kerrie wanted to know if we would be interested in doing the part on HR. We, of course, said yes. We will give a 3-hour course on November 13 to a group of business owners on what they need to know about HR. This will be another great way to provide value to the community and spread the word about cavnessHR.
We attended the SendGrid "Send with Confidence" conference in Seattle. https://sendgrid.com/ SendGrid is the email marketing platform we use for cavnessHR. The conference was very informative and valuable for cavnessHR. We met some great people as well.
We attended the annual Alliance of Women Owned Businesses (AWOB) https://www.allianceofwomenownedbusinesses.org/ This is an annual event in Gig Harbor, Wa where various women owned businesses gather to put on a conference and network with each other. The guest speaker was Amanda Beard https://www.linkedin.com/in/amandaraybeard/ She is an Olympic Gold Medalist in Swimming. Amanda gave a great speech and it was very inspirational.
We attended the Bunker Labs Seattle Bunker Brews event. https://bunkerlabs.org/seattle/
at the FOB Brewery http://www.fobbrewingcompany.com/foB in DuPont, Wa. As part of the event, I did a Fireside Chat with the Owner of the FOB Brewery, Jared Wharton. https://www.linkedin.com/in/jared-wharton-a04a87113/ We had a discussion on the process he went through from idea phase to execution phase of building the FOB Brewery. It was a great discussion.
We continue to meet with our customers to see how we can continue to provide value to them. We also continue to learn valuable lessons from our customers.
We continue to meet with potential members of the cavnessHR team as we continue to build out the cavnessHR team.
