I know there are lots of people out there who say starting a company is hard and the hardest thing they have ever done. Well, I have to disagree with this. Having to tell someone that a member of their family has died is hard. Having to talk to someone's mother after their child has been killed in war is hard. Having to tell a single mother in the Army that even though she just was reunited with her kids. She has to go on a deployment and be separated from them again. Being homeless is hard. Not knowing where your next meal is coming from is hard. Finding out your mother has stage 4 cancer and having to bury her 30 days later is hard. Finding out that yourself or someone you care about has a terminal illness is hard. Finding out one of your best friends stepped on an IED and was blown up the day before he was leaving Iraq is hard.
Don't get me wrong building a company is not easy and at times very difficult. But I would never say that it is hard or the hardest thing I have ever done. If building a company is the hardest thing you have ever done. You have lived a very blessed and fortunate life.
For our podcasting host for the cavnessHR podcast, we have switched from Libsyn to Pippa. www.pippa.io There were many reasons for this change. But to sum them up it would be that being on Libsyn was like driving a Ford Pinto from the 80's and Pippa is like driving a Tesla.
Something that we failed to do and we have no idea why we did not do this earlier. When we first set up the cavnessHR podcast, we set up affiliates with various companies. Well, we never listed them on our show notes or talked about them during the actual podcasts. So, that is something we have fixed. Our affiliates and their links are below. cavnessHR receives a commission from these links.

We attended the MBApierce https://www.mbapierce.com/ membership drive on March 28. We met some great people in the construction industry and we were able to talk about how cavnessHR can bring value to their business.
We attended America's Credit Union https://www.youracu.org/ Business Amplify Launch networking event in Dupont. This is a new business service they are providing to small business in the South Sound Area. From what I understand they want to increase the number of business loans they provide to small business in the South Sound area.
We attended the Bunker Labs Seattle Veterans in Residence Launch Party. https://bunkerlabs.org/seattle/ cavnessHR was one of 10 companies selected to be in the June 2018 cohort of this great program that is helping Veteran Entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
We had our meeting with Margaux Guidry, PhD. https://www.linkedin.com/in/maggieguidry/
She is our Launch Lab Online Accelerator group partner. https://bunkerlabs.org/launch-lab-online/ She provides lots of great advice and insights during our sessions and she has been a great help to cavnessHR. We do our best to provide her advice and assistance as well.
We had our weekly meeting with Business Impact Northwest. https://businessimpactnw.org/
We continue to refine the HR products we provide for them and we continue to learn many valuable lessons from our relationship with them.
We continue to meet with people as often as we can to see how we can add value to them and help them to solve problems. Most of these meetings are great and we feel like they are very beneficial. Both to us and the people we meet. But if we are honest, a small number of them are wastes of time.
Either they are trying to hard sell you something. Or they want to take and take from you. Or you can quickly tell that they have no interest in having a fair and equitable relationship with you.
We are making a change in how we operate. We have been providing HR Laws, Employee Handbooks, HR policies and Labor posters for free and not really keep track of which companies we provided these services. We were only making profiles for companies that became paying customers.
It has been pointed out to us that we should be making profiles for these companies we provide free HR products. This way we can show how many users we have and then how many we have converted to paying customers. Sometimes, you have to wonder, how in the world you did not think of some of these things yourself.
