For this week, we started pushing out our podcasts. We have pushed out 9 so far and they have been downloaded 556 times. We have been receiving lots of great feedback. What is even better is that two of the guests. One in Texas and one in Michigan have offered to provide us referrals. These podcasts were a lot more work than I anticipated. Hopefully, now that I have a system, they will be easier and they will start bringing in business for cavnessHR. Once we get up to a certain number of downloads. There a few companies I am going to target to see if they would be willing to do some sponsorships. One challenge, is making sure I do my best to share it on all my social media platforms.
We attended the Pacific Northwest Startup Ecosystem presentation that was given by Lee Reeves https://www.linkedin.com/in/leereevesseattle/ It provided an overview of the startup ecosystem in the Pacific NW to include Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Canada. We have quite a few resources in this area to help us on our startup journey. If you are interested in receiving this information. You can contact me at jasoncavness@cavnessHR.com or you can contact Lee.
We attended the Business Impact NW pitch competition. There were some interesting pitches among the finalists. We also talked for a while with a couple of the people that work there and received some more good advice.
We attended the first day of Seattle Startup Week. https://seattle.startupweek.co/ That was a lot of fun. There are so many great events, that it is hard to choose which ones to attend. It is great that so many people give their time to put on this great event. We made some great connections. To include the CTOs of both Avvo and Payscale.
Because of doing all the podcasts last week and attending Seattle Startup Week there are quite a few items we have not been able to focus on yet. We still need to research and decide which digital signature company to use. We need to finish targeting the companies in our local areas that we previously selected. For that we plan on sending individual YouTube videos to each company explaining how using cavnessHR can benefit them. There is of course hundreds more items to do.
We did make time to apply for Techstars Seattle. The chances of being accepted are very low. Plus the fact, we currently have no development talent makes it even lower. We are using http://clevrtec.com/ But they prefer that your developers are in house. But, I am big believer in the philosophy that you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. We made the team video and the product videos that are required to apply. The tough part is that each could only be one minute long.
Along those lines, while waiting for my next event at Seattle Startup Week. Guess who walked up. None other than Chris Devore, the Managing Director of Techstars Seattle. Once he was off his phone, I of course took the opportunity to talk to him about cavnessHR and our Techstars application. Chris was very gracious with his time and provided some great input on how to make our application more competitive. He also asked that we follow up with him on our progress during the application phase.
We are going to do our best to follow his advice.
