cavnessHR Weekly Update for November 6, 2018
For cavnessHR the following took place this last week.
We took part in a SendGrid https://sendgrid.com/ webinar on scaling market fit validation with email to find product-market fit. This was very informative on how to use SendGrid to help find product-market fit for your product.
We heard from Miguel McKelvey https://www.linkedin.com/in/miguelmckelvey/ Co-Founder of WeWork https://www.wework.com/ This was part of the monthly speaking series put on by the WeWork Veterans in Residence program. https://www.wework.com/veterans-in-residence It was a great talk and provided insights on how to build a successful company.
We pitched for the first time at 1MillionCups Seattle. https://www.1millioncups.com/seattle It was supposed to be a 6-minute pitch. But we went to fast and finished in 4 minutes. So we need to practice that part. We received some great feedback and met some great people.
We had a great meeting with one of our Board of Advisors, Todd Dean. It was a great conversation and we talked about many things cavnessHR related. He asked when we would start fundraising and I told him probably sometime next year. He replied that he believes we are ready to start now. So based on this cavnessHR is going to start the fundraising process now. We have a list of about 100 Angel Investors to reach out to and start building relationships with soon.
If you are connected to any Angel investors and think they would be interested in hearing about cavnessHR. It would be great if you could do an introduction.
We also had a meeting with another of our Board of Directors, Matt Burns. We talked about sales and marketing for cavnessHR. We had lowered our sales for cavnessHR for 2019 based on previous input/feedback from the Board of Advisors. However, our new projections are still too aggressive. So we are going to take another look at them.
We had a meeting with a potential UX/UI designer. Her name is Anushree Shukla https://www.linkedin.com/in/anushreeshukla/ We had a great conversation with her about design and other related items. She is a very talented person who is doing some great things.
We attend "Knowing the Rules" from the Seattle Office of Labor Standards at Business Impact NW. https://businessimpactnw.org/ Henry Wong https://www.linkedin.com/in/henrywongtn/ gave a great class on the new rules coming up Seattle. Such as changes in the minimum wage law and other items in the State of Washington. HR is constantly changing and here at cavnessHR we always keep up to date with all the upcoming changes.
We had a meeting with another potential customer and it seemed to go very well. We will have to see what comes out of this meeting for us.
We had our weekly meeting with our Business Development Representative.
We went through our contacts at MBApierce County. This is a construction organization in Pierce County Washington. We went through to see which ones we should reach out to in the future about cavnessHR. The original list had over 1000 companies. But once we went through them and took out companies with 50 or more employees. The ones who already had HR. The ones with no websites. The ones with no email. We had cut the list to 252 potential customers. We will do this same process with the companies that belong to the Tacoma Chamber of commerce.
