On my last blog post, I talked about how we can eliminate hassle for our business customers. On this one, I will talk about how HR can eliminate hassle for the employees of their business.
There are many things we can do to eliminate hassle for our employees. Below are just a few of them.
Are you making yourself available to your employees? Or do they have to always find you? Is your door always open for people to stop by and talk to you? Or is it always closed because you have “important” HR paperwork you have to do? If you work in a business that operates 24 hours a day. For example, like a manufacturing plant. Are your customer service hours only 9 to 5? Or do you make it a point to come in at various hours to make sure all employees have equal access to HR? Are you walking around and talking to everyone every day? Or do you just sit in your office and wait for people to come to you?
Are your HR processes streamlined and making it easy for people to receive the HR support they deserve? Or do you constantly put up roadblocks in an effort to maintain the status quo? Do you make people come in at certain times to do certain things? Or do you have your HR set up on mobile apps to allow them 24 hour access to everything HR related.
What are you known for around the company? If people know you as the person everyone sees when they do something wrong, I would say you are the one doing something wrong. If your motto is the company hires them and I fire them, I would say you need to find a new profession. I actually know someone who proudly says this is their motto.
Are you coming in a few minutes early, staying a few minutes after work or staying during lunch? In order to provide HR for those employees who can’t see you during regular hours.
Are you communicating how various HR items work in your company? For example, does everyone know the requirements for benefits eligibility? Have you made it easy for employees to sign up for various HR programs?
